The people of Kerala are in shock due to the three killing of wild elephant within 48 hours. We lost three lives at Athirapalli in Thrissur. Most of the people who died from the attack of wild elephants are male, living connected with forest. The elephant attacked the man while he was returning from collecting honey from the forest at around 10 pm on Sunday. The people who lives near forest are lost their sleep due to this fear.
Forest department are not ready to confirm the death of two people who went in search of forest resources as due to the attack of wild elephant. It caused to a great protest. Minister A K Saseendran initially said it was unusual death and the cause would be investigated. However, after getting the result of postmortem, we found the Satheesh's death was caused by wild elephant trampled him. The forest department is wandering as unable to shoot harmful animals.
Human-wild animal conflict has become a serious problem in most of the hilly areas where forest is near them. How can a government not see that about forest people in our state are living in fear of wild animal? There are many people couldn't go to schools and offices due to this fear. It is very painful that the forest department are unable to see the plight of such people.
